World Critics and their take on DMC’s work through the time

With meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to excellence, we create spaces that inspire, elevate, and enrich the lives of those who inhabit them.
In the early years of twenty century, my father was already a banker and an art collector and connoisseur. Therefore, since I was very young I had access to various art items, and enjoying fine art has become my life-long hobby. Starting from 1970s and up to now, I have traveled around te world for more than five times, visiting museums and art galleries in Paris, London, New York, Rome, and other metropolitans, indulging myself in the beauty of fine arts. But one experience stands out! That is my encounter with the
bearded sculptor Drago Marin Cherina in Shanghai.
Cherina’s art in general; but in particular his ONONA sculptures left such a profound impression on my inner self that even now after four years of friendship with the sculptor, I still cannot fully comprehend the impact. I collect the ONONA sculptures by Cherina and I truly enjoy the presence of his art in my house. Although these ONONAs have been with me just around four years; it is a joy and pleasure sharing time with these sculptures in totally abstract and super-era form, and it feels like Cherina’s art was with me for a lifetime.
ONONA is usually in pairs. It represents male and female, Yin and Yang, a concept formulated from Yi-Jing (Book of Changes) of Oriental philosophy by Cherina, using the method of Western abstract art to construct its figure. When you exercise so many variations and different compositions by turning and handling his forms of ONONA sculptures, there is something so radiant, a kind of energy that takes over your feelings and gives you peace, harmony, and warmth. The almost endless possibilities to create always another expression by just
shuffling the art forms around, that makes you feel you are the creator. Yes, you feel you are the sculptor. Forget Cherina! I am doing this and I am maneuvering the whole universe at my own will! This unusual feeling dictates your complete actions. Well, I am describing my truthful experiences that happen often since I like to have Cherina’s art around me.
ONONA sculptures by Cherina are living creatures. They definitely communicate with you. They are radiant and what is more, they are ever-lasting.
I have to say that I have never, ever experienced a work of fine art in the abstract field by any other artist and I know so many artists internationally; that would intrigue me so much and yet satisfy fully my expectations of looking at extremely pleasant three-dimensional forms that please my senses all around.
Cherina’s ONONA sculpture is a pioneering art form that belongs to the next century. You cannot compare it with the traditional artworks of the Renaissance or Michelangelo. Cherina is the only person in this world who creates this art form of ONONA. I wonder if you can only compare his ONONA works with the artworks from outer space artists if there are any.
Now, when it comes to my mind, Cherina’s ONONA allows me to fantasize about the other world. and the other life. This art form breaks boundaries and penetrates through eternity.
Everlasting!? Yes, ONONA sculptures carry this incredible eternal meaning, and bring peace and harmony to the hearts of mankind. I just wonder how it is possible for human beings to be capable of creating such a life-breathing energy that one so rarely finds in some works of fine art, like the painting of Monalisa, for example.
The only answer is in that energy itself. That energy comes from the creator. Very few are blessed with it. Cherina is one of them! He is able to bring his immense strength (inner energy) physical and mental into his art through his majestic hands and fingers. He uses all kinds of materials, paper, canvas, clay, wood, stone, and bronze, Given the life-breathing energy by the creator, the materials breathe life and become eternal fine art as a symbol of mankind’s ability to preserve itself through culture.
I have witnessed the creation of such breath-taking art from Master Cherina’s hands. That experience is second to none! ONONA is a proof and symbol for all my feelings and thought. I know that I am not alone who feels this way and that future generations will benefit in a great way from Cherina’s creative art works.
